What is Prototype?
Prototype is a very first sample of engineer’s drawing.
It is a tool used to validate the effectiveness and feasibility of design solutions. It provides support to designers and engineers in the early stages of product development, helping them identify and address issues to enhance product quality and reliability.
Yontone offers following solutions of prototypes, to support clients turning ideals into reality.
CNC Prototype
Yontone offers CNC prototypes in aluminum that use CNC machining equipment to cut, drill, mill, and turn aluminum materials into designed shapes.
One of the major advantages of CNC prototypes is their high accuracy. CNC machines can achieve high-precision machining by controlling the movement of tools through computer-aided software.
Generally, the precision of aluminum CNC prototypes is higher than that of plastic CNC prototypes. This is because aluminum is a stronger material that can withstand higher machining pressures. The shape and size precision of aluminum CNC prototypes can reach 0.0001 inches (0.0025 millimeters) or even higher.
CNC Prototype in Plastic
Yontone also provides plastic CNC prototypes, offering a more efficient and cost-effective solution.
Plastic CNC prototypes typically have precision levels ranging from 0.001 inches (0.025 millimeters) to 0.0005 inches (0.0125 millimeters). This depends on the material used and the type of machining equipment. For instance, the machining precision of ABS plastic is generally higher than that of polycarbonate or nylon plastics.
FDM & SLA 3D Print
Yontone offers prototype solutions made by 3D printing.
FDM 3D printing generally has lower accuracy compared to SLA 3D printing.
This is because FDM 3D printing uses thermoplastic filaments to create objects, while SLA 3D printing employs photopolymerizing resin. The shape and size accuracy of FDM 3D printing typically ranges from 0.005 inches (0.125 millimeters) to 0.002 inches (0.05 millimeters).
On the other hand, SLA 3D printing achieves shape and size accuracy usually between 0.001 inches (0.025 millimeters) to 0.0005 inches (0.0125 millimeters).
Yontone offers sand-casting prototypes of different materials, like brass, iron, steel, etc.
Sand casting prototypes have the lowest precision, but they can produce prototypes with relatively complex internal structures at an affordable cost.
